Eid Moon and Star Craft
Paper and card moon and star decorations children can cut, thread and hang as simple festive decor for Eid.

This is a decoration-making craft rather than a religious activity: children cut, glue and thread paper crescents and stars into hanging strings or a garland. It is a good option for classrooms or homes wanting simple, factual Eid decor without needing specialist supplies. Most of the time goes on cutting and threading, so it suits children who can already handle scissors with some confidence.
What you need
- Card or thick paper in gold, silver, blue and white
- Scissors
- A hole punch
- String or ribbon
- Glitter glue or metallic pens (optional)
- A pencil and crescent/star templates or stencils
Step by step
- 1
Draw or trace crescent moon and star outlines onto the card.

Cut out several of each shape, letting older children cut their own once traced.

Decorate the shapes with metallic pen or glitter glue and leave them to dry.

Punch a small hole at the top of each shape.
- 5
Thread the shapes onto string in an alternating moon-star pattern.

Hang the finished garland across a window, wall or doorway.
